Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality sushi dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Your creativity, attention to detail, and passion for Japanese cuisine will contribute to providing an exceptional dining experience for our customers.
Duties:
- Prepare a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate timing of sushi orders with other menu items
- Assist with menu planning and development, suggesting new sushi creations to enhance the dining experience
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for sushi ingredients as needed
- Engage with customers, answering questions about sushi options and accommodating special requests
Skills:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including knife skills and presentation
- Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine, flavors, and ingredients
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
