 Product Design Engineer

The Product Design Engineer at Venstar will participate in innovative control design and development projects. They will plan and execute Control product design and development projects. Deliverables will be in support of agreed cost, quality and qualification (validation and regulatory) requirements. Venstar is a member of Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, the largest Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning company in the world.

Requirements:

Position is Hybrid: Must be located in greater Los Angeles area

Bachelor's degree must be from a credited US based University in Mechanical Engineering 

5 years in Controls with experience in HVAC or the Automotive Industry

Responsibilities

Responsibilties:

• Task and project management in support of new control product development projects
• Plan and complete electrical and mechanical engineering product validation and regulatory testing
• Ensure all required product packaging and labeling are completed in support of new control product development
• Plan and complete Safety and Regulatory testing, including UL, EnergyStar, OpenADR and ISED
• Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change notices (ECN).
• Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis
• Participate on cross-functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product
• Closely work with suppliers during product development to consider design for manufacturability in order to meet quality, cost and schedule goals.
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills:

• Understanding and knowledge of mechanical and electrical design theory and practice
• CAD design software experience and thermal analysis
• Experience with engineering change processes, drawings and specifications management
• Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and complete projects on time
• Strong team player, results orientated, dedication to excellence & sense of urgency to achieve business objectives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include listening
• Effective project management and change management skills
• Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with internal and external customers and employees

Compensation: 100,000 - 135,000

Additional Compensation: $40 a day for Lunch allowance, accumulates to $10,400 a year.
