The staff Maintenance and Facilities Technician’s will be responsible for maintenance, preventative maintenance & new equipment installations within the Design Engineering Labs. In addition, responsibilities include ensuring training and mentoring junior technicians and supporting facility engineering initiatives.

Position Responsibilities may include:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lab equipment and machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
• Coordinate maintenance processes with the operations team in a way in which the testing is least affected.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or coordinate with specialized technicians or vendors as necessary.
• Assist new equipment installation.
• Employ safe maintenance practices and develop a culture of continuously improving safety within lab test equipment.
• Provide training and mentoring junior technicians and supporting facility engineering initiatives.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of commercial refrigeration or commercial HVAC systems.
• Advanced knowledge in maintenance of high and low voltage circuits, including but not limited to 24v, 120v, 240v, 480, single & three phase, 60hz and 50hz.
• Advanced knowledge in maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC (programmable logic controllers), VFD (Variable Frequency drives), AC/DC motors, switches, and relays.
• Advanced knowledge in maintenance of refrigerant systems and air moving systems.
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and plumbing drawings.
• Proficient in the use of voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, power tools, hand tools and measurement instruments, required to support activities outlined above.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, etc.

Experience:

• At least 6 years of experience in Maintenance
• 4 plus year experience in electrical maintenance
• maintenance
• 4 plus year experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Education/Certification:

• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation field or equivalent from an accredited trade school preferred.
• Electrical and refrigerant certification required, if associate degree is not available.
