Director, Channel Development

The Opportunity

Daikin is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Director, Channel Development position. The Director of Channel Development primary objective is to ensure channel strategy and development aligns with brand strategy, business strategy and Fusion goal attainment. Channel to include COD, National Accounts, Independent Wholesalers, Applied Representatives, Holistic Channel Partners, Acquired Businesses and Emerging Channels. Additionally, determine sales, marketing, technical support development needs, and financial support requirements to ensure sales expansion to be executed through Division and Corporate resources. Monitor and track competitor activity, trends, and future opportunities. Lead Channel Marketing and Rebate teams. Responsibilities

May include;

  • Create and publish KPI scorecard used to measure distribution current readiness state vs targets. Develop stress test methodology to understand growth investment capability.
  • Assist in creating strategic initiatives and strategies for expansion and growth opportunities for all sales channels
  • Define process to ensure distribution development goals are defined, executed and measured.
  • Create competitor playbook/benchmarking/mapping defining competitive landscape, conversion, and M&A opportunities.
  • Conduct regular channel reviews to evaluate current state, opportunities and channel gaps
  • Closely work with the Sales Leadership to support execution of growth strategies with our channel participants.
  • Work with Division sales leadership to manage channel conflicts.
  • Work with VRV Business Development VP to support rep strategic initiatives.
  • Work with Sales Planning to develop revenue, share and strategic product results vs target.
  • Work with Product Marketing to develop channel VOC to support product planning.
  • Work with COD and independent channel participants to develop customer experience KPI’s to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Develop channel marketing to support seasonal demand needs and optimize support fund usage.
  • Ensure distribution agreements are current and in compliance.
  • Participate in Leadership meetings as necessary.
  • Manage and mentor the channel development and rebate teams to ensure achievement of defined KPIs and development of internal talent.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Strong management experience - ability to effectively lead, engage, mentor and delegate
  • Strong background in Distribution
  • Strong marketing experience; knowledge of best practices
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and Access
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong business acumen
  • Planning experience preferred
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Goal-oriented, highly confident, self-motivated
  • Sales experience
  • Strategic Thinker
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Adaptable to all new challenges
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job

Experience:

  • 10 years proven leadership experience in leading strategic sales and / or marketing teams
  • 15 years of proven experience in progressive distribution or channel development

Education:

  • Bachelors’ degree in business, marketing or related field, Master degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
