About Us: Join a dynamic healthcare team dedicated to excellence in patient care. We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our Labor & Delivery 6E department. Be part of an organization that values innovation, collaboration, and leadership in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager will:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality department/clinical services in alignment with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
  • Promote a positive and professional image, serving as a role model, coach, mentor, problem solver, and resource for staff and peers.
  • Take responsibility for overall department operations, including goal development, personnel management, budget preparation/monitoring, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to provide optimum age-appropriate patient care.
  • Participate in the development of evidence-based standards of care for the clinical area of responsibility.
  • Foster positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with hospital and Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Play a key role in the Performance Improvement Program, contributing to ongoing initiatives and supporting quality metrics.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct interviews, hire, evaluate, counsel, and terminate employees following hospital policies.
  • Develop and submit departmental goals aligned with Nursing and hospital strategic plans.
  • Schedule staff based on budgeted staffing plan and department needs.
  • Update FTE component of staffing budgets continuously.
  • Develop and submit operating and capital budgets, reporting variances to the Division Administrator.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental, state regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Provide house supervision as required by the Division of Nursing.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs to maintain current knowledge.
  • Participate in ongoing Performance Improvement initiatives, ensuring department involvement.
  • Adhere to safety standards for employees and patients.
  • Create and maintain a culture of shared governance.
  • Work with the Magnet program director to align initiatives with the strategic plan of a Magnet Organization.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Current NY State License.
  • BSN required or matriculated in a BSN program with a plan for graduation.
  • BLS certification (through American Heart Association) required.
  • ACLS certification (through American Heart Association) preferred.
  • Certification in the area of specialty or CNML preferred (to be obtained within 3 years of hire date).
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of management skills.
  • Previous management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant acute care experience.
  • Ability to function as a staff RN with excellence in clinical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
