Cumberland County is Hiring an Administrative Specialist- Solicitor's Office Near Carlisle, PA

Job Description

Provides specialized administrative support to the Commissioners’ and Solicitors’ Office in the daily operations of the department.

Position Information:

Starting Salary: $20.20 an hour / $39,390 annually

In some cases, the starting salary is non-negotiable

Position Code: SO3002

5-Factor Grade: 105

Work Hours: This position will work and be paid for 75 hours in a 2 week pay period

Typical hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with a one-hour lunch

Current county employees will follow the county's promotion/demotion policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists County Solicitors and Paralegal/Right to Know Officer in preparation of contracts, other legal documents and Right to Know responses.
  • Answers telephone and greets visitors.
  • Assist in contract processing.
  • Maintains department records/files.
  • Support Deputy Chief Clerk and paralegal by managing Lawson duties to track and manage departmental contracts and for budgets and invoicing.
  • Track and manage the Commissioners’ departmental budget while ensuring supplies are ordered as needed.
  • Create agendas for public meetings and attend and take meeting minutes while providing support.
  • Schedule meetings and manage calendars for the Commissioners, Chief Clerk, and the Deputy Chief Clerk.
  • Handle office correspondence for the commissioners and solicitors and provide additional support as needed.
  • Manage departmental files by reviewing on an annual basis to purge files, keep them or send them archives.
  • Serve as a backup for the mailroom and switchboard as needed.
  • Attends meetings, training and seminars as required.
  • Assists staff with work duties as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.


Qualifications:

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Associates degree in Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three years administrative or office related experience.
