Position Summary
The Project Manager oversees operations for an assigned office. This role is responsible for estimating, managing installation projects from contract award to project sign-off by coordinating efforts between Sales and Operations, monitoring progress and completion, and ensuring that customer expectations are met. This position has primary accountability for overall project quality and for meeting project schedule and budget.
Responsibilities
• Prepare bids, proposals, scope of work, RFIs, and other actions necessary for closing a sale and obtaining a contract.
• Prepare take offs, material estimates, project proposals, and manage the process from bidding to contracting.
• Manage all aspects of assigned projects from the time the contract is accepted until the project is signed off, working with all parties necessary, including Promotions/Sales and Corporate resources
• Plan for upcoming projects, procure resources, and ensure that all aspects of the project are understood and executed • Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
• Daily management and tracking of job progress through scheduling, reporting and cost control measures.
• Manage team members, monitor performance, and assist with hiring • Ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, city guidelines, and local and state regulations are met
• Communicate issues to key stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
• Responsible for set up of new office & warehouse, and staffing as needed based on growth
• Assist the Promotions/Sales team by providing market, construction, and estimation/cost expertise and knowledge
• Perform other duties as needed. Note, this is a role in a new direct market and the role will need to be flexible and proactive to meet the needs of the business.
Knowledge & Skills
• Ability to provide direction and effectively manage a group of employees.
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and tools.
• Ability to accurately and comprehensively understand and communicate costs/pricing via proposals and informal communication.
• Expert knowledge of building products and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards in the construction industry, including local, state, and federal building code regulations
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and best practices for safety in the construction industry
• Ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing, with team members and customers.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts with team members and customers in a constructive manner.
Experience
• 5 years of experience with Estimating and Project Management, where management and scheduling of projects and work groups was a requirement.
• 5 years of experience in the Construction industry
• Experience hiring and managing direct reports
• Experience managing department and project budgets effectively, reporting on that data, and explaining variances.
• Experience creating reports and presentations in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or construction industry software in a professional environment
• Experience using project management software
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or similar field required. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Other Requirements
• This position spends time on construction job sites and requires the physical ability to safely operate in a typical construction environment. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• This position also operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and operates company owned vehicles.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license
• Must be able to visit job sites throughout the greater Austin and San Antonio areas on a regular basis
