CSBS is Hiring a Senior General Ledger Accountant Near Washington, DC

This position is responsible for the daily accounting tasks involved in processing banking, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions for CSBS and its affiliates, completing the month-end reconciliation and close process, and acts as the backup for accounts payable. Position is a professional level support position and will be responsible for assisting accounting management in the performance of routine tasks and special projects that include reconciliations, general ledger analysis, and financial statement preparation. Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and performing account analyses.Responsible for the Account Receivable functions to include issuing invoices for dues, accreditations, and event registrations.Responsible for applying customer payments and managing collection of unpaid invoices.Manage the annual membership dues processes.Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.Record and reconcile revenue and related transaction expenses.Record daily cash receipts and prepare reconciliations for revenue generating applications.Assist in the preparation of financial and ad-hoc management reports.Assist in preparation and support of the annual external audit and 990 report. Maintain fixed assets ledger for additions and retirements and record monthly depreciation and amortization.Maintain standard operating procedures and policies.Additional responsibilitiesAssist the Assistant Controller and Controller with financial analysis. Minimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting.6 years’ experience in an accounting firm or within an accounting department is preferred.Experience with Oracle NetSuite is preferred.CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of U.S. GAAP.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on advanced Excel functions such as vlookups and pivot tables.Excellent customer service skills, committed to quality service.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.RequirementsDue to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”).
