Job Summary: As the School Athletic Director, you will play a critical role in fostering a positive and competitive athletic environment that aligns with the Christian values and mission of our school. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, and the ability to provide strategic leadership for our middle and high school athletic programs. Qualifications & Desired Attributes:
Professes a strong Christian faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrates regular attendance at a Bible-believing church aligned with the CSAGH Statement of Faith.
Agrees with and upholds the principles outlined in Articles II, III, and XII, section 1 of the Constitution of the Christian School Association of Greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Holds a bachelor’s degree as a minimum qualification.
Exhibits a clear commitment to Christian Education and a wholehearted embrace of CSAGH's vision.
Self-motivated, dynamic, well-organized, and adaptable individual with a genuine desire to connect with, nurture, and minister to students and athletes.
Cultivates healthy and positive relationships with athletes, parents, colleagues, and school administration.
Willingness to participate in professional development and training as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
Establish and strengthen a Christ-centered athletic culture that disciples student-athletes and promotes a clear Gospel witness to the school and local community.
Develop and implement a comprehensive athletic program that promotes teamwork, skill development, and Christian character.
Coordinate with coaches, staff, and parents to build a vibrant, trusting, and healthy organizational culture that ensures effective communication and collaboration within the athletic department and community.
Coordinate with administration to establish annual strategic goals that align with the CSAGH Strategic Plan.
Coach Recruitment and Development:
Recruit, hire, and mentor qualified coaches who share the school's commitment to Christian values and sportsmanship.
Provide ongoing professional development opportunities and annual evaluations for coaching staff.
Student-Athlete Development:
Oversee the development and discipleship of student-athletes, emphasizing character, discipline, and academic achievement.
Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and spiritual growth of student-athletes.
Scheduling and Logistics:
Coordinate and manage the scheduling of practices, games, and tournaments for middle and high school sports teams.
Ensure compliance with CCAC (league) and PIAA (state) regulations and scheduling requirements.
Facilities Management:
Collaborate with school administration to ensure proper maintenance and utilization of athletic facilities.
Oversee the preparation of facilities for practices, games, and events.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the athletic department budget in coordination with the school's financial guidelines.
Seek and secure additional funding opportunities to support the athletic program.
Community Engagement:
Cultivate positive relationships with parents, community members, and local sports organizations.
Promote the athletic program within the community to enhance visibility and support.
Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, or certificate in Athletic Administration.
Previous experience in coaching and athletic administration, preferably in a school setting.
Strong understanding of Christian values and the ability to integrate them into the athletic program.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Knowledge of state and league regulations related to high school sports.
Physical Requirements:
The employee needs to communicate verbally and listen regularly.
The ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
