General Summary:

Performs a variety of material handling duties including, but not limited to moving, prepping, counting and packaging material safely and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Locates and identifies the correct material to be prepped or packaged according to the schedule or other designated reports.
• Responsible to deliver material using an industrial lift from storage or work area to the correct staging area to be prepped, packaged or put into production.
• Correctly packages material according to customer specifications by performing duties such as: bundling, verifying material is cut to the right measurements, ensure there are no quality issues, confirm the material is tempered, complete the bundle by properly securing it with wood blocks and banding, labeling the bundle and printing packaging tag.
• Ensures material is prepped properly by performing duties such as: opening crates, verify material and count with the packing slip, receive prepping instructions, prep material according to customer’s print/specifications, and stores material upon completion.
• Reports any concerns to Supervisor such as quality concerns, short counts, incorrect part or packaging issues.
• Transfers material from packaging area to appropriate warehouse location and maintain inventory data in computer systems.
• Pulls customer supply orders by: receiving the daily schedule, pulling the material from the warehouse, tag and stage for production.
• Attaches identifying tags to containers/bundles or marks them with identifying information.
• Ensures warehouse, packaging, and shipping/receiving areas are accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic by maintaining a clean work area at all times.
• Establishes efficient work flow based on product and task.
• Follows safe warehousing practices when storing material.
• Safely operates industrial equipment which may include: a forklift, four-directional lift, two-directional lift, Combi lift, Drexel, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
• Operates small hand tools including, but not limited to a drill, punch, screwdriver, Webster and/or chop saw as necessary.
• Efficiently uses packaging and other supplies and notifies the correct person when supplies run low.
• Properly wears required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of warehouse and packaging standards normally acquired through six (6) months of experience in similar position.
• Previous experience operating a forklift, four directional lift, scissors lift and/or overhead crane.
• Previous experience loading/unloading vertical racking systems.
• Ability to read, count and accurately measure is required.
• Previous experience with small hand tools is beneficial.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.
