Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific job knowledge, skills, and abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform:
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Execute set up, cleaning, and maintenance of banquet event space.
  • Relay any problems or damaged areas to Banquet Management in a timely manner for immediate actions.
  • Help with AV questions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all banquet equipment and storerooms are in proper operational condition and are cleaned on a regular basis.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be detailed oriented with outstanding organization and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computational abilities, be able to use Windows and Outlook e-mail.
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
Physical demands
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens ( 110 F), possibly for 2 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, stoop, and stretch to fulfil cleaning tasks.
  • Requires grasping, reaching, and performing repetitive motions; manual dexterity to operate equipment.
  • Frequently requires carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds, and pushing/pulling carts and equipment weighing up to 200 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires substantial use of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line phones, filing cabinets, and other equipment as necessary.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Two years fine dining, catering, or banquet service preferred. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
  • Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing West rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, dismissal from employment
