Description:

The Business Development Manager is responsbile for leading initiatives to generate and engage with business partners to build new business and maintain strong working relationships with current customers.

This position will require up to 50% of travel, both locally and nationally (within the U.S. and Canada).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains the business development staff.
  • Oversees the daily work flow of bid requests for the department and will work with account managers on projects to move into estimating phase.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive for department staff.
  • Set department goals and report on progress quarterly.
  • Meet with Business Development Account Managers to submit quarterly forecast of projects to executive management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer requirements to determine scope of work and qualify project bid requests.
  • Develop strategies to identify and engage potential customers to share product offerings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with existing customers and secure new business opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends to develop short-term and long-term sales goals and project forecasts.
  • Identifies and assess operational challenges in relation to competitiveness in terms of trends, innovations and pricing while staying up to date with external and internal developments in the environment for identifying new market segments.
  • Monitor internal business operations progress in relation to various sales metrics; conduct KPI analysis to understand what the performance indicators are showing.
  • Lead the effort of closing project quotes to a contract, working with Crown’s internal Contracts department.
  • Audit and maintain Crown’s CRM for accuracy.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and other industry events; actively engage with participants in order to represent company’s business interests and increase brand awareness.
  • Oversees the company’s commission structure; reviews and approves commission reports.
  • Oversee the sales efforts for Crown’s House Accounts
  • Lead biweekly sales meetings with executive management.
  • Support Business Development Account managers with new customer acquisitions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to develop and manage business relationships and partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to make business decisions that align with company objectives.
  • Proven ability to gather and synthesize market data to identify competitive and effective business opportunities.
  • Solid technical understanding of mechanical or electrical product offerings along with familiarity with local market, customers, and competitors.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM Systems

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; education may be substituted for additional years of related work experience.
  • 7 years of experience in developing business opportunities preferably in the electric utility industry
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed.

Salary: $100,000-$115,000/year plus Bonus
