We are seeking a mission-focused Software Engineer to support and contribute to our government customer’s success in San Diego, California!

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will work in collaboration to enhance the analysis system leveraging proprietary capabilities. You will collaborate on the integration of capabilities from different systems, as well as on the design, development, testing and integration. 

Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include completing software development tasks individually and as an agile team member. You will actively participate in program increment planning and related team activities as a software engineer. You will analyze and study complex system requirements, use design software tools, provide support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques with the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools, and will use sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is adaptable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault-tolerant, and reusable. The selected candidate will provide software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process and will promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration by creating standard functions and shared actions for developers and testers.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies

• An active TS/SCI security clearance, preferably with CI polygraph
• Four (4) years of relevant experience
• Understand the Software development life cycle
• Experience with Java
• Experience with User Interface development, knowledge of databases and structures, and/or experience working with XHTML, HTML, XML, XSLT
• Demonstrated experience developing with modern languages such as: Python, Java, Ruby, Clojure, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to problems
• Experience developing on Windows, and/or Linux operating systems
• Experience with high level requirements management including requirements decomposition, secure systems engineering and development, trade-off analysis, interface control, and testing and continuous integration
• Demonstrated experience using rapid prototyping and Agile based software development methodologies
• Must have a strong understanding of sound software development principles and practices
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

Preferred Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies

• Understanding of machine learning concepts
• Experience integrating multiple applications
• Experience developing and implementing software enhancements to mission systems in other Government agencies
• Experience building scalable solutions to mission problems
• Experience with development in microservice based architectures
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Kafka, SciPy, NumPy, Pandas
• AWS API experience
• AWS Certification (Developer, DevOps and/or, Architect, etc.)
• Security Certification
• Experience in software development on Agile teams using Agile Developer practices such as Pair Programming, TDD, Refactoring, and ATDD
• Experience with FITNesse, Mockito, Cucumber, Unified Functional Tester (UFT), Selenium
• Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, SAFe Agilest Certification, or past experience as a member of an agile team
• Experience working for the agency

Security Clearance Level

• TS/SCI with an adjudicated CI polygraph or ability to obtain a CI polygraph

• Full-time onsite at a designated facility

Pay Rate

• The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Criterion Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
