Crisis Center of Comal County is Hiring a Case Aide - Part Time Near New, TX

We have Part Time overnight and day shifts available.

SUMMARY : Provides crisis response and direct client services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, homeless, stalking and other related crimes. Answers hotline calls, provides referrals, legal advocacy and educational services. Schedule will vary and include weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Answers Crisis Hotline providing crisis intervention and community referrals as appropriate for caller’s needs.

Provides legal advocacy including but not limited to information on legal rights, legal process, legal system and obtaining Protective Orders.

Provides safety planning and basic family violence education to callers or non-residential clients.

Responds to on-site calls for sexual assault cases (and domestic violence cases upon request) including but not limited to crisis intervention, information on community services, accompaniment to hospital and emergency room advocacy.

Coordinates crisis response services with other community service providers.

Gathers information from referral sources such as police, EMS, family members to more accurately assess the crisis situation.

Provides or arranges emergency transportation as needed.

Completes intake procedures for non-residential clients.

Provides legal advocacy and otherwise assists with shelter clients as needed. Attends shelter case review meetings as assigned.

Builds effective relationships with community partners including but not limited to law enforcement, hospitals, CPS, community agencies and schools.

Conducts trainings for law enforcement and makes presentations to community groups with an emphasis on schools/students.

Documents appropriate information in client files and completes all forms maintained in client files.

Completes all paperwork and reports, specifically all grant related activities, in a timely and accurate manner; document and report duties as requested by supervisor.

Attends staff meetings and case review meetings as scheduled.

This position flexibily with schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Maintains confidentiality of all communication regarding clients, agency and staff.

Must be available for day, evening and weekend crisis calls.

Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be able to drive during day time and night time hours.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

OTHER DUTIESIn accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may routinely be required to carry out or assist with other tasks involving client care and client preparation, in addition to the duties listed above.

Must act in accordance with the agency's mission statement and goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThere are no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GED with some college; Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of crisis intervention, social work theory and ethics. Experience in and knowledge of family violence/sexual assault theory preferred. 1-2 years’ experience working in a social service environment preferred. Must have general computer proficiency.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients. Ability to communicate in a helpful and courteous manner. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCurrent Texas Driver's License required. Must have current proof of automobile liability insurance. First Aid Training and CPR certification required to perform the job but may be completed subsequent to employment at agency direction.
