Creative Financial Staffing is Hiring a Director of Grants Management Near Chicago, IL

Summary:

This position is responsible for directing grant development efforts including researching, organizing, developing and responding to funding opportunities through federal, state, local and private channels to assist the agency in achieving its strategic goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct and manage development of new grant activities and materials (35% of time spent in this area)

  • Research, monitor and review traditional and non-traditional funding sources.
  • Analyze funding opportunities, guidelines, and regulations for organizational priority/positioning appropriateness.
  • Identify, advise on, and summarize opportunities for internal/external distribution.
  • Conduct literature reviews on current and relevant topics and evidence-based models.
  • Draft responsive, high-quality concept papers, proposal materials and supporting grant documentation.
  • Develop sound project/services budgets.

Implement and administer organizational grant development processes and procedures (35% of time spent in this area)

  • Oversee funding entity deadlines and application requirements.
  • Develop and administer project management timelines.
  • Manage deliverables and application status from concept to submission.
  • Educate staff and external partners on grant requirements.
  • Convene cross-departmental planning, application work, and debriefing meetings.
  • Delegate project responsibility areas.
  • Ensure fidelity to funding entity goals from grant development through project launch and implementation.

Manage and conduct administrative and operational support activities (30% of time spent in this area)

  • Participate in internal and external cross-functional teams and committees.
  • Prepare departmental reports (fiscal, status) for Board, executives, and agency leadership.
  • Develop and/or assist executive and leadership staff with coordination of agency documents (e.g., research and policy papers, communications materials).
  • Prepare documents for and assist partners with grant applications.
  • Ensure post-award fiscal and project reporting requirements are met within established deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.   • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university and at least three years of relevant work experience preferred; or at least five years of experience in successful program and/or grant development, preferably in the non-profit field, at a department director or similar position level.
  • Strong editing, proposal writing, and budget development skills, including government grants experience.
  • Excellent organizational and project management aptitudes.
  • Ability to manage departmental budgets and supervise staff.
  • Knowledge of Illinois criminal and juvenile justice, substance use and mental health service, public health and child welfare systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of local and national funding trends, current research and data, and programming/ service priorities in areas of justice, substance use and mental health, policy, and public health (preferred).
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications and internet navigation, and ability to learn various external grants management systems.
  • Three or more years’ experience in direct staff supervision or oversight of teams in a professional setting.
