General Job Summary:

We are looking for a Business and Development Associate to assist with the clerical an data entry functions related to finance, HR and fundraising for our organization. Your primary responsibility is to accurately enter and track invoices, payments and donations. You will meet with potential and current vendors and donors to follow up on payments and invoices as well as manage the fundraising database and grant acknowledgments. Our ideal applicant has experience with accounts payable, receivables, payroll, onboarding and procurement as well as a bachelor's degree in business or nonprofit management. This role is autonomous and fast paced, therefore candidates should have several years of experience with finance and/or fundraising. Verbal and written communication skills are crucial to your success in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing staff members and contractors
  • Ensure bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
  • Process invoices for payments
  • Process payroll for Operator employees
  • Manage purchase orders and procurement through Baltimore Public Schools
  • Receive and record donations and checks
  • Check for accuracy in reports, figures and postings
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring fundraising campaigns
  • Assist with organizing donor events
  • Solicit current donors for increased contributions through annual appeals
  • Deliver reports on fundraising activities and progress
  • Assist in coordinating contractors, special projects and partners
  • Manage the student lottery and track admission numbers for budget purposes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or nonprofit management
  • Several years of fundraising or financial office experience
  • Proficiency with general office and financial management software
  • Has worked in a school or non-profit setting before
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and self starter

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with school district procurement and purchasing systems.
  • Experience in sensitive roles that require high amounts of discretion and professional boundaries with co-workers
