GRANTS AND FUNDING SPECIALIST

, named a “Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For.” is a consulting firm with a team of engineers, planners and other related design professionals is actively seeking to add a talented 5–10-year experienced Grants and Funding Specialist to our team. CMT’s funding experts support communities by identifying possible funding sources and providing grant application and strategy support. We have a stellar record of helping our clients maximize funds for their projects, including through multiple recent wins in programs funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Developing grant applications for priority projects across CMT’s aviation, surface transportation, and water resources practices.
  • Identifying winning arguments and project strengths based on an understanding of program priorities and the project.
  • Writing grant narratives based on existing plans or discussions with clients and CMT staff.
  • Working with CMT’s engineers, planners, and other experts to produce exhibits and data that help tell the story.
  • Following infrastructure and economic development funding programs at the federal level.
  • Having your finger on the pulse of when grant programs may become available and how they may change.
  • Summarizing and communicating funding-related policy changes and trends to CMT staff and clients so we can stay ahead of the game.
  • Interacting directly with clients and prospective clients to advise on funding opportunities.
  • Managing schedules and budgets for grant writing efforts.

Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Previous work experience in grant writing, planning, infrastructure policy, or government.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in political science, communications, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter, able to deliver quality projects on time and ask for help when needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure funding programs, including federal opportunities
  • Experience developing applications for US Department of Transportation discretionary grants strongly preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to track many issues over time.
