Job Summary:

Inspect water-based fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and fire pumps in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 25. Every position is responsible for safety, prevention of waste, continual improvement, and following company procedures.

Essential Functions, Duties, Responsibilities:

• Walk entire area of the specific fire protection system to inspect, from the floor, visible system components
• Testing of devices as required by the specific contract in accordance with requirements of NFPA 25
• Identify corrective action required
• Complete detailed reports of inspections performed, deficiencies observed, and corrective recommendations offered.
• Work with office personnel as required to help set and maintain required work schedule
• Communicate as required with customers and Cox office personnel to ensure required notice is transmitted to proper persons and authorities regarding inspection findings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• In compliance with state law, the following are specifically NOT part of Inspection services at Cox Fire Protection:
  • Climbing above ceilings
  • Inspection of pipe or components that are not observable from the floor
  • Ladder work
  • Repair of deficiencies (outside the Inspection and Testing contract scope; requires separate contract agreement)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Compliance with Cox Fire Protection “Drug Free Workplace” program
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be comfortable with customer interaction and providing excellent customer service
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to present to senior level executives within the customer organizations
• Computer skills

Required Qualifications:

Education/License/Certifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• NICET Level I water-based inspection certification or equivalent state-approved certification
• Driving record must acceptable to the company auto insurance carrier.

Experience:

• 3 years experience as Inspector
