General Definition of Work
Performs routine to moderately difficult paraprofessional work and involves the supervision of tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing 4-H/Youth educational programs. Employee must exhibit qualities of independent judgment while performing duties necessary to assist in day-to-day conduct of programs. Work is performed under the general direction of the 4-H Agent and/or County Extension Coordinator.

Essential Functions
Plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts a variety of program activities and events.
Supervises and trains other Program Assistants.
Attends local, district, and state program activities and events in place of the County Extension Agent.
Serves in a training role for volunteer leaders by providing program ideas and materials.
Performs research and provides information requested by clients to County Extension Agent.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of business English and spelling; ability to relate effectively to young people and adults; extensive knowledge and experience in the program area of responsibility; knowledge of the interests and behavior of the program participant; skill in planning a variety of programs for the target audiences; ability to supervise the work of others; demonstrated ability to operate computers, knowledge of various software applications and ability to write legibly; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clients and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer and various software applications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from a two year college or vocational/technical school with course emphasis in human relations and/or youth development, or other relevant subject matters and experience in program planning, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of Local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history.
