About the role
The Manager, Solutions supports the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of the 3rd Party Disposal initiative led by the Corporate Solutions Team.This role interfaces with the national and regional Sales Teams as well as the 3rd Party Processing & Disposal facilities as assigned.Supports the identification, research, auditing, and contracting or new 3rd Party processing and disposal options with a focus on developing sustainable long-term alternatives to landfill and Waste-to-Energy.This person will support business optimization by evaluating opportunities for a best fit on processing & disposal, with the intent to improve margin, lower transportation cost, and move customer waste up the EPA sustainability hierarchy.
Responsibilities:
Support Sales Staff and Corporate Solutions Team to provide 3rd party disposal options, to drive a profit for the Solutions entity, utilizing the 3rd party processing & disposal vendor network.
Proactively support and contribute to the growth of the 3rd party processing & disposal vendor network.
Input and maintain customer and waste data using the relevant CRM system(s) - currently NetSuite - and offline trackers using the assistance of a dedicated Solutions CS team.
Engage with large customers and vendors seeking 3rd party disposal options by doing calls, site walks, and/or facility audits as needed.
Must be willing to go visit Industrial, Manufacturing, Warehouse and Disposal Facility Settings - Wear proper PPE, walk flights of stairs, in varying levels of noise, heights, dirt, and temperature fluctuation.
Positions Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, Science, Technology, or equivalent experience.
At least 10 years of diverse work experience within the waste, environmental services, sustainability consulting, or other related technical industry.
Strong knowledge and direct experience with a variety of different material processing and disposal options including depackaging, sortation, recycling, composting, beneficial re-use, RCRA, hazardous waste, etc.
Knowledge of, and experience working with, a variety of different types of waste materials including plastics, organics, fiber and OCC, liquids, haz waste, etc.
Ability to visualize, understand, and communicate complex processes in industrial, manufacturing, and material settings.
Ability to travel and perform customer site visits and waste audits as well as vendor site visits and facility audits.
Ability to evaluate a customer's waste applicability to the Covanta suite of services.
Ability to lead a complex RFP/Bid Process that includes the coordination of internal (WTE, MPF, Transportation, Equipment) and external (3rd party disposal vendors) stakeholders
Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint slide presentations and/or Financial Summaries in Excel related to the opportunities being worked on.
Confidence and desire to grow as a subject matter expert in the intersection of waste and sustainability.
Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to create and manage detailed project plans with limited internal support.
Works independently in a variety of settings including: corporate office, regional facilities, during business travel (hotel rooms and airports), and in a home office environment. Employee must be accountable to complete work assignments in a quality and timely manner.
Act as internal "educator" or trusted advisor for the applicable region(s) as it relates to customer waste challenges
