JOB DESCRIPTION: Server
DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
STATUS: Non-exempt
Job Summary:
The Server provides fast, friendly and efficient service by suggestively selling menu items, taking orders and ensuring guests receive great service throughout their meal and collecting payment.
Qualification Summary:
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum two experience in hotels, restaurants, or related fields as server
Front of House proficiency
Proficient in POS Systems, Aloha, Micros, etc or similar computer applications
Preferred Experience and Education:
Experience as server, busser, runner, host(ess)
Certifications as required by Federal, State, or Local agencies
ServSafe, TIPS Certification
Physical: Frequent standing and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, equipment, products and working in and being around loud kitchen and restaurant environments. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment.
Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range.
Other: Must speak English fluently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Mathematical skills include basic math concepts, percentages and variances. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational abilities are often used. Ability to effectively multi-task.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Owners and/or Principals – regarding operational updates and current issues o Vendors – to resolve any vendor performance issues, etc. o Regulatory agencies – regarding safety and compliance matters o Other contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups, local media)
Organizational Structure:
This position reports directly to the Food and Beverage Manager or Director.
