Description

  • We are exceptionally managed by Fontainebleau Development.
  • Our newest Courtyard property features a modern, sophisticated design that marries our urban location with a tranquil energy. With 14-stories, 220 rooms, 2500 sq. ft. of meeting space & "The Bistro" restaurant, we are offering an opportunity for a Finance Manager. Just a short commute away, we are conveniently located within close proximity to Boston North Station and all major highways.
  • Position Overview: Supervise and direct the financial activities of the hotel and prepare all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company standards. Assist in obtaining and analyzing financial information to include reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit and controls, asset and liability reconciliation and working capital and cash control. Will be responsible for owner relations and reporting and various other above-property tasks.
  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with preparation of forecasts and budgets as required (annual, revised annual, monthly and/or upon Owner’s requests)
  • Reconcile deposits and balance sheets and ensure account balances are supported with appropriate documentation in accordance with company policies and guidelines
  • Monitor all applicable taxes, ensuring all taxes are current, collected and/or accrued
  • Generate and collect daily, monthly and annual reports and review for accuracy
  • Collect and review accounts receivable reports (i.e. aging/guest ledgers)
  • Monitor and assist department heads in controlling overtime, payroll expenses, etc.
  • Ensure P&L is accurate and all accompanying reporting is detailed and reviewed. Deliver statements in a timely manner
  • Serve as hotel champion in regard to purchasing and payroll systems
  • Provide ongoing analytical support and advice to management team to ensure financial goals are met and opportunities for improvement are identified and addressed
  • Manage credit card disputes and direct bill processing
  • Maintain safe and house banks by auditing monthly and at random, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed in accordance with company policy
  • Maintain petty cash and prepare monthly report
  • Manage monthly brand invoice reconciliation and analyze for accuracy
  • Prepare, review, and present financial reports in accordance with ownership requirements
  • Attend monthly managers meeting
  • Work in conjunction with sales department to ensure accuracy for all group billing
  • Monitor all sales, purchases, salaries, capital projects and expenses of the hotel on an ongoing basis
  • Audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling and disbursements, inventories and associates time records and develop process improvements when necessary
  • Ensure accuracy of Accounts Payable; processing documents and invoices for payment in a timely manner. Prepare and issue checks
  • Process Hotel Payroll in a timely and accurate manner, entering gratuities and incentive pay, ensuring payroll is completed in a timely and accurate fashion. Verify that all wage and hour procedures are followed
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Assist hotel management in maintaining licenses, permits, insurance and contracts
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) - Knowledge of USALI practices is helpful
  • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues
  • Ability to reach and adjust to changing business environment
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • The employee may be expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

Qualifications, Job knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities


 

  • Degree in finance, accounting, hospitality or other business related field required
  • 3 years hotel finance or related financial/accounting field preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of departmental operations
  • Must have knowledge federal, state and local taxes; as well as Department of Labor regulations.
  • Must have knowledge of insurance, employee benefits, insurance and workers’ compensation claims and liability
  • Analytical approach to problems and regard to detail and accuracy
