Job Description The purpose of this class is to supervise and direct the Voter Services and Elections Divisions of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections office. Responsibilities include oversight of daily operations, personnel, budget, and voter outreach. Under limited supervision of the Executive Director, this class directs the conduct of federal, state, county, municipal, and special elections in accordance with federal, state, and local election laws; assists with organizing and implementing the policies and procedures of the Voter Services Division to ensure the proper registration of each voter, the timely operation of all absentee services, and the effective operation of early voting; and assists with implementing policies and procedures of the Elections Division to ensure the accurate preparation of election equipment and programs as well as tabulation and reporting of election results. This class has oversight of full-time, permanent part-time and temporary office personnel; works within broad policy and organizational guidelines; plans and implements procedures independently; organizes and implements voter outreach efforts; and assists with redistricting and reapportionment. The class engages in high-level elections systems and GIS-related work; gathers, updates, and interprets geographic and demographic election data; and conducts related research and analysis. This class is responsible for allocating resources; responding to problems, complaints, and inquiries; monitoring execution of proper laws, regulations, and procedures; and making decisions in the absence of the Executive Director. Performs other duties as assigned. This class requires a Bachelor"s degree and 4 or more years of relevant experience, a valid state driver"s license, and State Elections Commission certification (Director"s track) within 18 months of hire. Yearly State Election Commission and other recertification is required thereafter. At the discretion of the Executive Director, a combination of education and experience may be substituted for stated education and experience requirements.
