The purpose of the class is to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, HVAC, hydraulic, and some electrical and plumbing systems and equipment; to perform general carpentry and minor building construction and renovation work; to provide leadership of subordinate mechanics as assigned, and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision of Assistant General Manager.

Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in mechanical maintenance or a closely related field.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.Must possess forklift operator certification within one year of hire.

Requires over two years and up to and including four years in related fields based on technical training.
