Work Schedule: 40 hours a week | Monday thru Friday - 1 hour lunch break |
Position Summary: The clerk/interpreter performs the necessary clerical, and data entry tasks of limited complexity and variety required by prescribed procedures. Supervision by the Administrator and detailed instructions are given on new assignments and on any irregularities encountered. The responsibilities of the clerk/interpreter are to perform the necessary data entries, filing of client information and written translations in order to maintain the operations of the office. This position interprets for clients and health department staff as requested. This position is under the direct supervision of the County Health Administrator.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: General knowledge of clerical and computer skills. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills after less than six months in the position.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Skills: Ability to operate a computer, calculator, photocopier, and related office equipment. Fluent in speaking, writing and reading the Spanish and English languages.
Problem Solving: Limited problem solving exists. Problems involve the handling of client inquiries within time and spatial constraints.
Decision Making: Limited responsibilities requiring decision-making. The decision involves whether immunization or physical assessments are needed for incoming patients.
Accountability: Employee follows the guidelines of the various programs and department policies and procedures, examples: Women, Infant & Children, Maternal & Infant, and Daycare.
Supervision: Direct supervision provided by the Administrator. Does not have supervisory responsibilities over subordinate personnel.
Personal Relations: Occasional contact with county departments and continual contact the general public.
