POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Cost Engineer champions and supports operational efforts to maintain accurate project cost projections, ensure timely invoice submission along with supporting documentation, and track cash flow throughout the life cycle of a project. Perform tasks related to the collection of cost data required to monitor project budgets and estimates.
This position is also responsible for tracking and reporting on the financial status across all projects on a monthly basis and reviewing with the Procurement Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for processing, reviewing, tracking and maintenance of all payment applications from subcontractors, accounts payable for purchase orders, and misc. accounts payable for multiple projects
* Assist management with profitability projections, manage Work In Process reporting and projections and investigate project variances
* Assist Project Teams with job cost accounting including budget control, change order tracking, committed cost control, and job cost transfers
* Process project billings, owner payment applications and project budgets
* Communicate with project managers, vendors, and external parties to manage draw requests/requirements
* Assure accounts payable is coded to proper GL account number, job number and cost code and subsequently distributing to Project Management team for approval
* Responsible for lien waiver generation, subcontractor insurance verification, subcontractor business license, and W-9 updates for vendors
* Prepare monthly projection reports or other reports as needed (i.e. open payables, job cost, etc.)
* Assist in the development for new systems/processes for the department
* Other duties as assigned

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
* Must have a valid driver's license and be able to comply with the company's Authorized Driver policy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, auditing, engineering or project management, or equivalent construction accounting work experience.
* Average two years of experience with project cost accounting, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction
* Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
* Commercial/Contractor Construction experience required
* Knowledge of Procore, AIA & Vista Viewpoint or similar construction software preferred
