Core One is seeking a General Strategist to support the program. This position requires an active TS clearance with eligibility for SCI. This position is contingent upon contract award. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support for the development of strategic documents within the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). This includes offering subject matter expertise, coordinating document preparation, conducting in-depth strategic analyses, collecting and analyzing data, and actively participating in seminars, symposia, conferences, and war games. 
  • Conduct research and analysis of various policies, strategies, and concepts from the Department of Defense (DOD), Interagency, Service, and Combatant Command realms, all of which are associated with USSOCOM's strategy and missions. 
  • Offer strategic planning and analysis services for existing contingency plans, encompassing the USSOCOM Global Campaign Plan and other related plans. 
  • Develop, analyze, and compare alternative strategies for USSOCOM, ensuring alignment with national-level strategic guidance and direction. This alignment pertains to documents such as the Unified Command Plan (UCP), National Military Strategy (NMS), National Strategy for Combating Terrorism (NS-CT), Contingency Planning Guidance (CPG), and the National Military Strategic Plan for the War on Terrorism (NMSP-WOT). 
  • Provide analytical expertise for strategic planning meetings, briefings, seminars, and strategy war games. Additionally, offer essential subject matter expertise on Special Operations Forces (SOF) and their role in events related to the future operating environment and SOF interoperability. 
  • Supply geopolitical subject matter experts (SMEs) to conduct strategic studies and assessments, contributing to the analysis, assessment, and synchronization of USSOCOM's strategic documents, ultimately enhancing situational awareness. 
  • Augment the J5 Operations Officer and/or Senior Leadership in executing daily J5 taskings and managing associated functions. 
  • Undertake and prepare executive-level, research-based strategic-level studies, assessments, and papers, aimed at analyzing, assessing, and synchronizing USSOCOM's strategic documents. 
  • Develop and coordinate future plans, policies, and strategies. Provide effective advisory services to USSOCOM leadership, particularly on leveraging U.S. Government, Interagency, and private-sector capacities in support of the command's mission. 
  • Conduct strategic studies and assessments, focusing on the analysis, assessment, and synchronization of USSOCOM's strategy, command policy, action plans, and strategic assessments. 
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of strategic theory, the strategic roles and missions of Special Operations Forces (SOF), and familiarity with various national-level strategic documents. 
  • Exhibit expert knowledge of the mission, organization, and interrelationships among entities within the Department of Defense (DOD), Joint Staff, interagency working groups, and other government agencies and activities. 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years of strategy-related experience, preferably in the context of Special Operations Forces (SOF), gained while working at a Department of Defense (DoD) Combatant Command, the Joint Staff, or a 4-Star Command within the past decade. 
  • Three years of experience conducting strategic and regional studies and assessments to support the analysis and synchronization of command-level strategy. 
  • Completion of Senior Service College and/or possession of a Master’s Degree, with a preference for degrees in strategic studies, political science, international affairs/relations, or related fields. 
  • A minimum of one year of experience utilizing web-based programs, including social media platforms, and proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, such as SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel. 
  • An active Top Secret (TS) security clearance and eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
