Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club is Hiring a Painter Near Santa Barbara, CA

Title: PAINTER
Department: Engineering

Reports to: Chief Engineer

Direct Reports: N/A

General Purpose: Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, responsibilities include removal of old paint from surfaces to prepare for painting, fill nail holes, cracks, and joints, smooth surfaces by sanding and apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings, and other structures. Ensure your area of responsibility meets all company compliance standards, always using the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Utilize scaffolding or set up ladders safely to perform tasks above ground level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

¨ Approach all interaction with colleagues, Members, and guests in a courteous, service-oriented manner; attentive, friendly, helpful, and respectful to Members, guests, vendors and colleagues.

¨ Report to work and clock in/out for scheduled shifts and meal and rest periods on time in complete and proper uniform.

¨ Maintain personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.

¨ Subscribe to the principle of continual improvement in all facets of the operation.

¨ Inspect equipment, structures, materials and determine the need for maintenance or repairs.

¨ Sand, stain, and/or paint furniture, walls, or other surfaces.

¨ Clean building floors: sweep, mop, scrub, and/or vacuum after work has been performed.

¨ Repair and maintain building floors: strip, seal, finish, and polish.

¨ Maintain clean walls and baseboards inside and outside.

¨ Paint and maintain all light fixtures inside and outside.

¨ Inspect all rooms on property for paint needs.

¨ Repair defected wood floor decking by sanding and staining as needed.

¨ Follow procedures for the use of tools and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

¨ Maintain a safe storage area for paint materials.

¨ Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after leaving a room.

¨ Notify managers concerning maintenance activity that may affect their department, create access issues, or raise questions by Members or guests.

¨ Notify Facilities Chief Engineer of supplies and/or equipment needed for any paint supplies needed.

¨ Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare for painting surfaces.

¨ Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.

¨ Communicate supply, maintenance, safety and storage needs to the Chief Engineer or to management promptly.

¨ Attend all training courses and meetings as required/requested.

¨ Follow all established Club and departmental policies, procedures, standards, systems, controls, and objectives.

¨ Help promote a safe work environment in all operational areas and endeavors.

¨ Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

¨ Ability to read and comprehend memos, correspondence, and special instructions.

¨ Basic math skills

¨ Friendly, punctual, and proactive

¨ High level of client services, professionalism, and attention to detail; professional appearance appropriate for a premier private club

¨ Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used for building and equipment maintenance.

¨ Ability to operate tools and machinery and safely maneuver open/closed vehicles or equipment.

¨ Problem solving, reasoning, and “thinking out of the box;” ability to apply common sense understanding to better serve our internal and external guests’ needs.

¨ Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced environment.

¨ Ability to read, comprehend, and abide by the rules of the Coral Casino Employee Handbook

¨ Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

¨ High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Minimum 2 years’ Painting experience required.

¨ Basic knowledge of tools, proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment/machinery

¨ Basic knowledge of proper chemical handling preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

¨ Frequently stands/walks for prolonged periods of time, at least eight hours.

¨ Ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach.

¨ Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift at least 50 pounds.

¨ Ability to withstand continuous repetitive motions.

¨ Works both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions

¨ May be exposed to loud noise.

¨ May come into contact with fumes, open flames, hot and cold surfaces, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, sharp knives and other objects.
