COPE Community Services is Hiring a Residential Services Nurse (RN) Near Tucson, AZ

We are looking for a part time Residential Services Nurse (RN) to join the team! Under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director and the administrative supervision of the Residential Program Director, the Residential Services Nurse is responsible for patient care and providing support to Residential staff. The Residential Services Nurse is also expected to cooperate as a team member and provide services in accordance with client’s individual treatment plan.

Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed in Arizona as a Registered Nurse plus

  • A psychiatric-mental health nursing certification, or
  • One (1) year of experience providing behavioral health services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide on-going trainings (i.e. medication, diagnosis, behavioral change, medical conditions) to residential staff when requested or as needed.
  • Provide Self-Administration of Medications training (including storage of medication, observation of self-administration of medication, and documentation) to new staff and as needed for current continuing staff at residential locations.
  • Conduct medication storage inspection at all residential locations.
  • Collect and dispose of discontinued controlled medications from residential sites, prepare non-controlled medications for disposal to contract service.
  • Ensure compliance regarding nursing assessments and document the nursing assessment in the client’s medical record.
  • Coordinate and ensure accuracy of self-administration of medical and psychiatric medications.
  • Ensure compliance with required tuberculosis screening for clients admitted to a residential setting and document the tuberculosis screening in the client’s medical record.
  • Coordinate availability and scheduling at various residential facilities.
  • Protect and maintain the confidentiality of client records and information.
  • Follow DAP format when completing client progress and client staffing notes.
  • Create all electronic and hand-written documentation legibly (i.e. with attention to grammar, punctuation, spelling, and hand-writing if applicable).
  • Complete all clinical documentation thoroughly, accurately, and within timeframes specified by regulatory authorities (i.e. ADHS/DBHS, RHBA, accreditation authority, COPE policies and procedures), or as directed.
  • Train residential staff regarding the completion of assessment addenda.
  • Review and sign assessment addenda within 24 hours of client’s admission.
  • Review all service plans for clients admitted to residential services and monitor content of service plans to include integration of all aspects of care including treatment for and follow-up of all identified illnesses.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staffings for clients as scheduled and/or as indicated.
  • Assist in coordination of medical care for clients’ identified health needs including follow-up and wellness care.
  • Review client progress and, whenever indicated, staff with residential staff, Behavioral Health Medical Professional (BHMP), case manager, and/or medical personnel.
  • Observe, record, and report a client's reaction and responses to medications as appropriate.
  • Provide current and accurate information to clients, their families, significant others, and to staff members related to medication, mental health diagnosis, and medical conditions.
  • Perform review of medication systems as directed.
  • Provide active participation in residential team meetings.
  • Administer TB skin tests as required.

Important Notes:

Must be 21 years of age (insurance requirement) and possess a valid AZ driver’s license with a “clean” or “acceptable” driving record. An unacceptable driving record includes (but is not limited to) the following:

  • more than two [2] moving violations in the last three [3] years or;
  • more than one [1] at-fault accident within the last three [3] years or;
  • any major violation (i.e. DUI, Careless/Reckless Driving, Drag Racing, Hit and Run) within the last five [5] years.

Other driving related violations may be considered unacceptable. At time of job offer, submission of 60 month (five year) driving record from DMV will be required. These standards must be maintained throughout employment and up-to-date driving records are reviewed regularly for current employees.

Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
