JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Case Manager/Lead Case Manager

Department: Advocacy Program, Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC)

Reports To: Advocacy Program Supervisor

Supervises: None

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade:N5 (Case Manager), N6 (Lead Case Manager) 

Job Type:Full-Time, Regular

General Functions:

The Case Manager/Lead Case Manager positions provide advocacy and pro-se services to Alaska Native Justice Center (ANJC) clients. These positions work closely with ANJC Staff Attorneys and Paralegals. Our team provides civil legal services to primarily Alaska Native/American Indian victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, dating violence and stalking. The Case Manager/Lead Case Manager positions offer support and aid to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all clients, but especially Alaska Natives and American Indians, in the judicial system. Case Manager duties include providing advocacy services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking, victims of crime and to non-offending family members of victims of certain crimes. The Case Manager/Lead Case Manager positions require experience in case management, communicating and interacting effectively in cross-cultural situations, and a commitment to race equity work. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Case Manager 

  • Provide assistance to potential participants and walk-ins through ANJC’s intake process.
  • Provide Case Management services to ANJC participants.
  • Coordinate with community providers to refer services for participants, including but not limited to: resources for housing, employment, food, clothing, health care, behavioral health, and substance use treatment.
  • Develop and assist with technical and educational support to participants, which includes but is not limited to court filings and research.
  • Obtain court records, provide court accompaniment, and work effectively with diverse participants, providers, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in facilitating community partner meetings.
  • Coordinate program events and outreach.
  • Develop and present program-related trainings and presentations. 
  • Develop and maintain external relationships within local community providers.
  • Work with organizational partners to develop program narrative reports.
  • Engage in community outreach events to promote awareness of ANJC.
  • Obtain, track, and document all relevant information for reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with leadership to monitor grant-required information and strategic planning processes.
  • Participate in scheduled community meetings and webinars as requested.
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant department meetings and trainings.
  • Fill-in for absent staff when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and assist with other ANJC programs.
  • Perform all related duties as assigned.

Lead Case Manager 

  • Perform all functions of a Case Manager with a higher level of proficiency and responsibility.
  • Help mentor, train, and support new and current staff.
  • Assign and create presentation lists for all case managers/navigators.
  • Assist with annual reviews of internal documents and processes. 
  • Responsible for the case management of cases with increasing complexity.
  • Assist with all reporting structures.
  • Attend high-level community stakeholder meetings.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence/sexual assault, interpersonal violence, human trafficking, and victims of crime.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community resources.

Minimum Core Competencies: CITC Values, Professionalism, Emotional Intelligence, Problem Solving/Critical Thinking, Communication Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Case Manager 

  • Associate’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, or Vocational Education and/or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three years’ experience in social services, workforce development, vocational counseling or education, or related experience.

Lead Case Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, or Vocational Education and/or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Five years’ experience in social services, workforce development, vocational counseling or education, or related experience.

Minimum Qualifications at all Levels:

  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age; have reliable transportation and be willing/able to travel.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon results of a state and federal background check.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily works in an office setting, with extended periods of time at a desk and on a computer.
