Technical Manufacturing Consultant
CGC Corporate Office

The Technical Manufacturing Consultant is responsible for acting as a liaison between both sales and production to provide correct specifications for customer’s machines, train customers as needed on new equipment installs, provide basic training on tooling and tooling repairs / maintenance, and provide press side support on projects and new machine installs. In addition, they will conduct die shop audits in each regional die shop to help drive standards and consistency across the division. The Technical Manufacturing Consultant is expected to drive Container Graphics CS1 mindset and always represent the company in a positive, energetic, and consistent manner. The Technical Manufacturing Consultant reports to the Regional Manager.

This position’s essential functions:
  • Understand and adhere to the CGC Corporate product standards and processes.
  • Support customers with training on best practices for utilizing and maintaining CGC tooling.
  • Provide classroom and hands on training to customers & CGC employees on best practices.
  • Provide clear and precise tooling specifications and keep CGC’s systems updated with this information.
  • Work with CGC’s regional production department on product knowledge and procedures for standardization.
  • Support the development of quality assurance and safety systems for operations across the corporation.
  • Detect errors and conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of errors.
  • Audit processes and individuals for compliance to SOP’s and coach / motivate those individuals in order that they can successfully comply with SOP’s.
  • Review cutting die files and photos from different CGC production plants as needed.
  • Support and advise Regional Production Managers as needed on corporate direction.
  • Create and maintain relationships with OEM and Customer Technical Team members.
  • Ensure the customer success is our number one priority.
  • Travel regularly to CGC plants, customers, and prospective customers locations; including overnight travel.
  • Keep track and submit expense reports accurately.
  • Follow all CGC corporate and customer safety program requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education / Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of packaging industry experience
Preferred Education / Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years of packaging industry experience
  • 3-5 years of corrugated cutting die experience
Knowledge / Skill Requirements
  • Ability to lead by example, using honesty, integrity, and sincerity.
  • Ability to communicate well, verbally, in writing and via computer.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of decision makers and interact with customers.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and other electronic devices as related to email, Microsoft Software (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Adobe) pdf documents and photography.
  • Must possess organization and communication skills to conduct seminars/training for company personnel and customers.
  • Exercise good judgement, strong decision-making skills and results driven approach.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work to accelerate processes to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of math fundamentals, including but not limited to fractions, decimals, and basic geometry.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical effort is required in walking, inspecting, speaking, lifting, reaching, pulling and pushing.
  • Mental effort required is substantial to follow through on production schedule, overcome and solve issues on press, in customer’s plants and CGC die shops as needed.
  • Lift up to 65 pounds safely
