Description

Principal Function: The Civic Season Intern is responsible for assisting in the debut of our Civic Season program. In this role, the intern will be part of the ideation, facilitation, and implementation of Civic Season. The intern will work in collaboration with the Curriculum Specialist to develop their own project, combining elements of the program with the intern’s own passions and interests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assess and improve logistical processes for new Civic Season program.
  2. Dive into the content for guests and increase relevance, connection, and ownership of civic identity.
  3. Utilize the research and the expertise of other colleagues both inside and outside of the organization to enhance the experience of the learner and the intern’s own professional development.
  4. Create a unique project connecting their personal identity, passions, and interests with civic engagement.
  5. Align state standards to programmatic outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: College student with an interest in education, art, history, civics, community engagement, and/or activism.

Length of Internship/Hours/Rate of Pay:

  • 30 hours/week for 6 weeks
  • June 3 - July 2024
  • $13.50/hour for up to 180 hours
  • Will coordinate and flex schedule around academic commitments as necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this position will be required to work beyond these hours and when open for special events.
