Job Title: Elementary School Social Worker Position Type: Full-Time Reports To: Principal/School Administrator Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Social Worker to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in addressing the psychological and social well-being of students from kindergarten through fifth grade. This individual will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and school administration to create a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes students' academic and social development. Key Responsibilities: Assessment and Intervention: Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Develop and implement targeted intervention strategies to address identified issues. Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling services to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Family and Community Engagement: Work with families to understand their children's needs and provide guidance on how to support their educational and social development. Collaborate with community organizations to access additional resources for students and families. Crisis Intervention: Respond to school crises or emergency situations, providing immediate support and intervention as needed. Collaboration with School Staff: Work closely with teachers, school administrators, and support staff to integrate social and emotional learning into the curriculum and school culture. Advocacy: Advocate for students' needs within the school and broader community to ensure they receive necessary services and support. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in school social work and related fields. Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution. Valid Michigan School Social Worker certification or eligibility to obtain certification upon hire. Experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting is preferred. Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and the education system. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community partners. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics.
