The Clinic Access Specialist is responsible for the coordination of medical care for those patients living with HIV and for patients that are at risk of obtaining HIV. This position provides medical supportive services in the form of phlebotomy, ordering laboratories, and triaging HIV related patients (vitals, weight, BMI) and other clinical duties as assigned by the Clinic Coordinator. Additionally, this position is responsible for scheduling patient flow; progress reporting; securing the patient’s engagement to primary care; tracking visits and laboratory results into the CAREWare database; and working with the Ambulatory Care Provider(s) in ensuring patient retention in care and understanding of treatment goals. The Clinic Access Specialist will serve as a link between the patient’s Medical Case Manager or Health Navigator and the Congreso Health Center. This person will assist in making the process of referring patients externally for medical specialist appointments as seamless as possible by facilitating transportation and language assistance. This position works directly with the other health center staff and reports to the Clinic Coordinator.
The Clinic Access Specialist will have internal contacts with the entire administrative staff and external contact with clients, community resources, and the community. This position has access to sensitive Congreso information and is expected to handle such information with integrity and professionalism. This position has regular contact with members of the community and is expected to represent Congreso in a professional manner.
This position reports to the Clinic Coordinator. This is a(n) on-site, part-time (20-25 hours/week) position.

Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED/HISET required.
Minimum Experience:
Experience in a clinic or medical office environment with insurance-related duties is required. Experience verifying insurance, experience with data entry, knowledge of ICD 10 Codes, and extensive Medical Terminology is highly preferred.
Certification/License:
Medical Assistant Certification is required within 3 months of hire. This person must also be certified to conduct HIV rapid tests. Mandated Reporter training certificate is required and may be completed post-hire.
