Job Title: Safety Manager
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team at our food manufacturing facilities located in Northern New Jersey. As the Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety of our employees, facility, and operations in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs and policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance gaps.
3. Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to address safety concerns, provide training, and implement corrective actions as needed.
4. Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
5. Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations applicable to the food manufacturing industry and ensure compliance at all times.
6. Coordinate safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, refresher courses, and specialized training as required.
7. Manage the company's safety reporting and recordkeeping processes, including OSHA logs and incident reports.
8. Stay informed about emerging safety trends, technologies, and best practices, and recommend improvements to enhance safety performance.
9. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and external stakeholders regarding safety matters.
10. Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA), and industry best practices.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective safety programs and initiatives.
- Experience conducting safety training, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
