Job Description – Front Office/Reception

Location: Norwalk, CT

Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday. 8am-5pm.

General Purpose:

The front desk person is many times the 1st introduction to the practice and is a critical role. This person handles all incoming calls and directs them to the appropriate department/individual. They also schedule appointments based on the need of the patient.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Reports to the office manager.
  • Introduces the patient to the appropriate department/provider.
  • Appointment scheduling.
  • Administrative duties including data input and chart filing.
  • HIPAA compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Telephone system management including inbound/outbound calls.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance within their role.
  • Perform their duties in a customer-centered manner.
  • Input the patient information into the scheduling system.
  • Manage appointment scheduling efficiently.
  • Other administrative duties and projects as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to read a computer monitor and enter data on a keyboard.
  • Must be able to move around the office.
  • Must be able to read, separate, and file paperwork in alphabetical and numerical order.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally over the phone and in person.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a medical office.
  • Ability to learn and successfully use electronic medical record and other software.
  • Working knowledge of health insurance policies.
  • Attention to detail and good organization skills.
  • Proven communication skills.
