About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Marine Science Research Institute (MSRI) to serve as the Senior Administrative Officer and visionary leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with college and university leadership to champion the work of students and faculty, coordinating efforts to expand partnerships, enhancing funding through philanthropic opportunities and grant acquisition, and creating articulation agreements with other organizations. The role involves supervising the MSRI Assistant Director, Executive Assistant, and providing minimal supervision of staff from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The Executive Director will also oversee the MSRI Advisory Board, engage in strategic planning, and ensure the optimal use of the institute's physical spaces.Applicants must have a graduate degree (masters or doctorate) and demonstrate experience in fundraising, board management, and event planning. The role requires a proven track record in fundraising, the ability to collaborate with various entities, and experience managing medium-sized gift and operating budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership roles involving different stakeholders, the ability to see viewpoints from many angles, and evidence of supporting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI-B) activities. The Executive Director will work closely with the MSRI faculty, university leadership, and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to identify grant opportunities and lead efforts toward successful awarding and implementation of grant funding.
