Confidential - Construction is Hiring a Construction Payroll Specialist Near Brooklyn, NY

We are seeking a dynamic Payroll Specialist for a permanent position. Under the supervision of the CFO provides assistance with the payroll functions in connection with weekly payroll processing for the employees of the construction companies. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of payroll experience, and a stable working history within the Construction industry.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the weekly processing of employee timesheets from all departments ensuring the accuracy of job costing, payroll taxes deducted, paycheck amounts, adjustments, etc.
  • Union payroll and Union benefits reporting
  • Prevailing wage and benefits reporting
  • Certified payroll reports preparation
  • File and organizes new and current employees paperwork.
  • Assists employees in the preparation of new employee forms (W4 and I9 forms)
  • Reviews new hire, Tax Withholding Status information, title changes, and other pertinent information.
  • Completes payroll notifications and check distributions as necessary.
  • Assists in the processing and confirms the retirement contribution payments.
  • Audits the accuracy of payroll taxes deducted, paycheck amounts, adjustments to ensure that all employees are paid correctly.
  • Process employees weekly petty cash reimbursement checks.
  • Process weekly garnishments/child support checks
  • Prepares monthly Journal Entry, summarizing Payroll activity both in summary and in detail by Cost Centers (including payroll taxes and benefits).
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly Payroll Tax Returns.
  • Supports Human Resources functions. Process employees reimbursement checks.
  • Performs other relevant, related or Pertinent work or duties as requested or assigned by Payroll Manger & Controller

Qualifications and Core Competencies: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Excellent math, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and work on multiple projects at once
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Working experience of payroll taxes at the federal, state and local level
  • Ability to work independently as well as work as a member of a team;
  • Extremely detail oriented with excellent organization and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years processing payroll
  • Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) experience preferred
  • College degree required.
  • Language Skills : Speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
  • Reasoning Ability: High

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
