Leave Coordinator - (Corporate Office | San Diego, CA )

CONAM is offering an exciting opportunity with the (Corporate Office | San Diego, CA ) Benefits team as a full-time Leave Coordinator. Our benefits department is growing with a new position! This is an onsite opportunity at our (Corporate Office | San Diego, CA ).

Pay Range: $22 - $24 / Hour

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources.
  • HR experience within a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Preferably 2 years of leave management.
  • Bi-lingual strongly preferred
  • Experience in California is required, multi-state experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state disability legislation and programs including FMLA/CFRA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation, preferred.

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Leave Management

  • Communicates with associates regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that associates are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all aspects of Leave of Absence and responsible for handling the day-to-day leave operations.
  • Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the associate’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Maintains reasonable communication with associates on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work, relays communication between associates and their managers during leave within reason.
  • Advises managers and associates on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
  • Oversees the return-to-work process for associates returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leaves.
  • Facilitates other leave requests, which may include ADA accommodation requests.
  • Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Refers serious attendance problems according to established procedures. Assists in identifying and resolving problems of associates with frequent absenteeism with HR Business Partner and supervisors.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Preserves confidentiality of associate medical documentation and files.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
  • Provides clerical assistance to Human Resources administrators and other staff as required.

Reporting

  • Assists in the preparation of internal reports to assist Human Resources with monitoring activities of associate attendance and leaves usage.
  • Maintain and distribute bi-weekly Leave of Absence report for leadership.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of lists, records and reports regarding associate attendance including leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA and workers compensation).

All other duties as assigned.
