Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care
- Perform medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and billing
- Handle phone inquiries with proper etiquette, assessing patient eligibility and service coverage.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Administer injections and medications as directed by healthcare providers
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urine dipsticks and blood glucose monitoring
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and wound care
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and medications
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant program preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is a plus
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing is desirable
- Ability to accurately take vital signs and perform basic laboratory tests
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is beneficial
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide quality patient service
- At least one year of related medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Work hours: 20 hours/ week
Tue/ Wed: 11 AM 12 PM to 5 PM
Friday: 9 AM to 5 PM
The hourly compensation range for this role is $23/hr - $31/hr. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate
