Job Overview This is a union position. The Dual Diagnosis treatment facility at 815 Buena Vista (815) is co-ed program that provides clients with medically supported withdrawal management (42 beds) and residential treatment (57 beds) for co-occurring behavioral health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Clients are supported by a team of licensed nurses and SUD and behavioral health professionals who provide counseling and education for SUD, life skills, as well as individual and group therapy. The Withdrawal Management Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral part of this interdisciplinary team who prioritizes safe processing and control of medications and ensures that medication treatment plans are implemented with accuracy. Closely collaborates with Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT), Withdrawal Management, and Health & Wellness teams to ensure treatment plans and medication regimens are accurately implemented on unit. Under a Physician’s license, responsible for management of client medications, including psychotropic medications and controlled substances and associated documentation, secure storage, count/inventory, and destruction according to policy. Obtain vital signs per protocol, documents findings in the electronic health record, and reports abnormal values to licensed staff when necessary. Acts as liaison with other staff and providers to relay requested information and reports on client adherence to medications. Ensures warm handoff to Health &Wellness staff if/when client enters 90-day treatment episode. Ensures timely TB clearance for all new admissions as needed. Responds to medical emergencies; renders first aid; and participates in the containment and cleanup of biohazardous waste as needed. Key Responsibilities Administrative Responsibilities: Maintains all medication documentation, including Centrally Stored Medication and Destruction logs, Medication Self-Administration forms, Shift-to-Shift Controlled Substance Logs, Discharge/Transfer Medication forms, and various standard documentation. Ensures intra-agency providers receive current medication lists and/or medication administration records prior to Integrated Care Center appointments. Audits charts for required medical documentation utilized by payors and/or regulators.Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet applicationsAble to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured prioritiesAbility to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the dataProfessionalism, punctuality, flexibility, and reliability are imperativeExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsIntegrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential mannerStrong problem-solving skillsExcellent organization skills and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities Outstanding ability to follow-through with tasksAbility to work cooperatively and effectively as part of interdisciplinary team and independently assume responsibilityAnd other duties assigned Education and Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEducation and Experience Required: Medical Assistant Certification, i.e., AAMA/CCBMA CertificationHigh School Diploma, or equivalent First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment CPR Certified within 30 days of employment Desired:Two years of experience in a substance abuse treatment settingCourse work in related subjects, i.e., co-occurring disorders, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, HIV, HCV, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Harm Reduction, etc.Bachelor’s Degree in related field Knowledge Required:Cultural humility and responsiveness demonstrated as an ability to work with a diverse populationExperience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency
