Compass Family Services is Hiring a Program Manager, Transitional Aged Youth Near San Francisco, CA

About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100 year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

About the team: This is a brand new program that supports young parents (ages 18-24) who are experiencing homelessness and housing instability. The Transitional Aged Youth Program will provide support for parents as they navigate Compass programs and San Francisco's homeless services.

Compensation: $73,000 - $79,000 annually

Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday, primarily during standard business hours. Occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsibilities:
The Transitional Aged Youth Manager will collaborate and build capacity within Compass programs to support TAY families who are experiencing homelessness to obtain stable and permanent housing. This includes implementing recommendations from the TAY needs assessment, developing a resource guide of available services to TAY families and providing support and developing trainings to agencies providing services to TAY families.

The TAY Manager must understand the complex issues and barriers housing facing TAY families in the SF Bay Area and have a track record of assisting transitional age youth to obtain stable housing.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Supervise TAY Coordinator, including hiring, professional development, performance evaluation, and day-to-day support.
  • Oversee the development of a resource guide on homelessness services and resources for TAY parents in San Francisco.
  • Develop trainings for providers servicing TAY families experiencing homelessness and for TAY clients.
  • Attend TAY provider convening meetings and other community meetings relevant to TAY families.
  • Track monthly expenditures against budget and make sure that funds are spent responsibly and appropriately throughout the year
  • Maintain relationships with community partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Compass housing department directors and other program leadership to ensure a seamless continuum of services and support the Compass mission.
  • Ensure data quality for the program, and that all staff are up-to-date and accurate with client data entry and case notes, and that all client files are complete.
  • Represent the agency and program to the community, outside agencies, service provider groups and committees and funders.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience supporting Transitional Aged Youth required, preferably 5 years.
  • Experience working with people in crisis and demonstrated understanding of issues facing homeless and low-income families
  • Understanding of Bay Area rental housing market.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship-building, networking, and ability to develop trusting relationships with a diverse set of individuals.
  • Outstanding work habits: punctuality, communication, reliability, cooperation, organization, professionalism. Ability to work independently and to juggle many responsibilities concurrently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Salesforce experience a plus.
  • People with lived TAY homelessness experience encouraged to apply.
  • Fluency in Spanish highly desirable.
  • Covid vaccination required for all staff.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $73,000 - $79,000. Full time exempt.
  • Paid time off: just under 4 weeks of vacation your first year, just under 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
  • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
  • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
