THE SALVATION ARMY USA WESTERN TERRITORY is Hiring a Program Aide Youth and Teens Near San Francisco, CA

Description

OVERVIEW:

The primary function of this position is to supervise both large and small groups of students in a variety of youth-focused programming. The program aide will supervise and lead activities for all activities in the teen drop-in center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be responsible for leading assigned groups of students through daily activities, distance learning, and recreational activities
  • Will adhere to and implement discipline procedures created for children and staff
  • Will communicate any student, parent, or staff issues with the Supervisor/Coordinator immediately
  • Will keep student and staff issues confidential
  • Ensure each program area used by groups is properly cleaned before they move on to the next activity
  • Maintain an accurate head count of the assigned group at all times
  • Facilitate day check-in and out procedures according to protocol
  • Maintain a safe working environment: report all facility defects/problems to Supervisor
  • Enforce all rules that pertain to the specific program and facility on a consistent basis
  • Assist in emergencies or treatment of injured participants or staff
  • Assist in the development of lesson plans for middle school & high school programs
  • Assist in any support roles for the teen drop-in center
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Classwork in education, childhood development, or related field (Preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Experience working with teens and children
  • CPR/First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Valid Food Handlers Card or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective verbal and written communications
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Detail oriented

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
