Community Services for Every1 is Hiring a Behavior Intervention Specialist - Residential & Respite Near Buffalo, NY

We are seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments, and design and implement behavior support plans for those people receiving services in agency Residential, Habilitation and/or Respite programs. The Behavior Intervention Specialist measures outcomes of plans and revises them as necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness. A successful Behavior Intervention Specialist will model and promote Person Centered Planning and identify individual needs and administer clinical tools to meet professional standards. 

The Behavior Intervention Specialist works in a full time, exempt position. Although the work location is an office based site, it is expected that the Behavior Intervention Specialist will visit any Agency residential and program sites when necessary which are located throughout Erie County. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will typically work first shift (day shift) but may work an alternate shift when there is an emergency or crisis situation.

  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to maintain their first allegiance to the people they support by demonstrating respect and supporting the person in daily problem solving skills.
  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist monitors each person receiving services including their clinical status and treatment response to ensure their goals, dreams and needs are being met.
  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist provides general systemic and/or behavior interventions to assigned sites and assists in identifying needs for further assessment.
  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist oversees the hiring, training and day to day supervision of new Behavior Technicians. Ensures assigned staff maintain the best practices and clinical standards expected by OPWDD.
  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist acts as a clinical liaison with involved psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health providers and attends regularly scheduled meetings to provide support and advocacy for people served.
