Community Services for Every1 is Hiring a Behavior Intervention Specialist - Community Based Near Buffalo, NY

The Community Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) provides services to those enrolled in community-based behavior programs. The Community BIS meets with families and the person served in the community and family home to provide support and assist with behavioral needs. The Community BIS conducts Functional Behavior Assessment, writes and implements Behavior Support Plans. The Community BIS measures outcomes of plans and revises as needed to ensure effectiveness, providing support and advocacy during treatment team meetings, school meetings and relevant appointments. Community BIS will provide Intensive Behavior Services (IBS) as assigned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Models and promotes Person Centered Planning, considering the dreams and goals of individuals being served.
  • Monitors each individual’s clinical status and treatment response.
  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments. Designs and implements Behavior Support Plans for individuals and families served. Provide training on implementation of plans to all involved parties. Measures outcomes of plans and revises as needed to ensure effectiveness.
  • Assists Community Behavior Technicians in identifying individual needs for further assessment. Researches, identifies, and administers clinical tools and testing for assessing individual needs and diagnosis. Ensures assessments maintain best practices and professional standards.
  • Provide family counseling, as well as training to families based on individual needs.
  • Oversees hiring, orientation, training, and supervision of Community Behavior Technicians. Ensures Community Behavior Technicians are aware of and maintain current best practices and clinical standards in accordance with OPWDD guidelines.
  • Provides and/or seeks clinically based training for individuals served, including but not limited to training for behavior support techniques, risk management, adolescent issues, and any other clinical topics deemed necessary.
  • Maintains required records including Case Notes, Case Summaries, Functional Assessments, and Behavior Support Plans for individuals served.
  • Maintains contact with individuals we serve, Care Coordinators, family members, outside providers and program staff to ensure that the needs of each individual are met in a consistent, ethical and effective manner.
  • Acts as a clinical liaison with involved psychiatrists, psychologists, or other mental health professionals
  • Attends regularly scheduled program meetings as needed to maximize effectiveness of multidisciplinary approach to program services. Participates in team decisions regarding the need for change in service frequency or approach.
  • Attends Life Plan meetings and participates as an active team member in person-centered planning.
  • Completes home visits on an ongoing basis to observe implementation of Behavior Support Plan strategies to monitor for effectiveness, identify necessary revisions of the plan to promote success and fading of the service.
  • Maintains pre-established caseload that fulfills Units of Service requirements. Ensures unit objectives are analyzed, tracked, and reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with agency and program quality assurance standards and procedures through monitoring survey results, and individual case tracking results.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Community Behavior Services Coordinator, in their absence, the Director of Behavior and Case Management Services
