Community School for Apprenticeship Learning, Inc. is Hiring a Teacher - Rebirth Near Baton Rouge, LA

The Teacher is responsible for ensuring that students achieve mastery of learning objectives. Teachers provide guidance, instruction, and support; manage the learning process; and focus on students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through interactive lessons and daily assessments, and they work actively with students and parents to advance each child’s learning.
Essential Duties Responsibilities
Planning and Preparation
  • Learn the curriculum in its entirety for assigned grade levels.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the state standards and testing requirements, and how both align with the Great Results/Rebirth curriculum.
  • Understand overall diversity of assigned families and individual characteristics of students/parents; specifically, how this impacts support needed.
  • Learn and use the resources available through Rebirth
Instruction and Student Achievement
  • Make placement and promotion decisions.
  • Support parents with student curricular and instructional issues.
  • Track student academic progress and attendance.
  • Support a specific content area through synchronous instruction and tutoring sessions
  • Balance flexibility of the Rebirth curriculum with state compliance requirements.
  • Conduct conferences with parents/responsible adults and students.
  • Individualize instruction to help each student achieve Rebirth curricular objectives.
  • Collect and review work samples and grade work, as appropriate.
  • Provide regular feedback regarding student performance and progress.
  • Generate informal and formal reports regarding student performance and progress.
  • Alert administrators to any concerns about student performance and progress.
  • Support students with special needs, including participation on IEP teams as needed.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests.
  • Proctor site-based exams.
  • Contribute to school SAIP goals.
Virtual Classroom Environment
  • Create and manage home office.
  • Implement school policies and procedures.
  • Organize social and educational activities for students and families.
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with assigned families.
  • Support parents with school set-up and logistics questions.
  • Support parents with set-up and maintenance of their teaching environment.
  • Support parents and students through basic computer troubleshooting.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Contribute to school message boards, newsletter and events.
  • Travel to and participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Support the school administration with student recruitment activities.
  • Create monthly expense reports and record expenses monthly in SharePoint.
School/Community Relations
  • Maintains confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information, documents, communications, incidents, etc., with discretion and in a conscientious manner.
  • Cooperates and shares professionally with other members of the staff.
  • Promotes high academic/achievement for all children;
  • Promotes a greater focus on teaching and learning;
  • Promotes flexibility to stimulate local initiatives coupled with responsibility for student performance;
  • Promotes improved linkages among schools, parents and communities.

  • Demonstrates proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS) and email communications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:
  • Usual school working conditions.
  • May be noisy during high student traffic.
  • Temperatures may change from very hot to very cold depending on the location of work and the weather.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a Louisiana Resident
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Master’s Degree (Preferred)
  • At least 1-year Teaching experience
  • Valid Louisiana Teacher Certification or ability to gain certification (Preferred)
  • Able to travel at least 30% of the time
