One of the Best Places to Work in the Inland Northwest (2018 -2022) is hiring for an ECEAP Family Support Services Advocate.

The ECEAP Family Support Services Advocate is accountable for compliance with DCYF ECEAP contract obligations and Community-Minded Enterprises policies within the ECEAP program. The ECEAP Family Support Services Advocate (FSS) is responsible for supporting the recruitment and enrollment for ECEAP classrooms, providing comprehensive and integrated family support services to enrolled families, building relationships with families that are positive, strengths-based, and goal-directed, coaching families towards self-sufficiency goals, engaging families in program events, and assisting the teaching staff. Classes run Monday through Thursday, 6.5 hours daily, from August 28th to June 30th. The ECEAP Family Support Services Advocate must maintain flexible hours to provide services when families are available. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly pay range of $18 to $24.

Requirements

  • Recruit and enroll ECEAP-eligible students and families throughout the school year; Must enroll 75 slots within the first 30 days of school.
  • Work to maintain a current and ongoing waiting list throughout the year; Fill any vacant slots within 30 days of a child’s disenrollment
  • Establish and maintain thorough and current confidential child and family files and documentation; Use the ELMS system to update child files.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 40 enrolled families; Coach families towards a goal of self-sufficiency through building mutual trust and respect.
  • Conduct family support conferences three times a year using mobility mentoring to identify and assess family strengths and goals. Conduct home visits in partnership with the ECEAP team.
  • Provide opportunities for families to learn about parenting, school participation, and grow leadership skills. Engage families in program activities, including family events, classroom volunteer opportunities, policy council, and health advisory committee.
  • Plan monthly family events based on families’ expressed interests; conduct family events in coordination with the ECEAP team; and provide access to information based on families' needs and expressed interests.
  • Cultivate community partnerships and link families to community resources, including but not limited to medical, dental, mental health, and educational services, housing, employment, and financial assistance.
  • Conduct health screenings for each child in the program, including, but not limited to, hearing, weight, vision, height, and special needs; notify parents of results and document in ELMS child file.
  • Partner with families when health and nutritional issues or developmental concerns are suspected or identified in their child; Create Individual Care Plans (ICP) and behavior plans in partnership with families and the ECEAP team when necessary.
  • Assist families in obtaining and attending well-child exams and dental screenings within the first 90 days of school, immunizations within the first 30 days, Individual Education Programs (IEP), and mental health evaluations; Follow up to ensure treatment is completed; Advocate and plan for ongoing health and safety needs.

Required Trainings:

  • 30-hour Childcare Basics training within 3 months of hire
  • Complete a course in disaster planning and emergency procedure training
  • Mandated Reporter training annually
  • A minimum of 20 hours of in-service professional development per year
  • Conscious Discipline training
  • ECEAP Mobility Mentoring Training within 90 days of hire
  • ECEAP Eligibility, Enrollment, and Recruitment annually
  • Cavity-Free Kids

  • Families experiencing Homelessness
  • Medication Management

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: An associate degree or higher with a minimum of 30 college credits in adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, ECE, child development, psychology, or another field directly related to the job responsibilities.

These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree. or A DCYF -approved credential from a comprehensive and competency-based Family/Social Service training program that increases knowledge and skills in providing direct services to families or A Washington State ECE Home Visitor Certificate or A Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential from the Council of Professional Recognition. At least 1 year of experience working with children and/or families experiencing trauma.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Current Child and Adult CPR/ first aid certificate (Hands-on)
  • Current Bloodborne Pathogens certification (Must be completed annually)
  • Current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance

Clearances:

  • MERIT Portable Background Check
  • Tested negative on the Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) skin test in the past 12 months
  • Copy of MMR immunization
