COMMUNITY HUMAN SERVICES is Hiring a Bookkeeper II Near Monterey, CA

Bookkeeper II – Provides Accounting and Financial Analysis support for Agency as part of a growing Finance team that currently includes a Bookkeeper II and the CFO. Responsibilities will be allocated between team members in a manner that seeks to maximize efficiency, skills development, and redundancy across the department. We are currently seeking a professional to handle the Financial Analysis responsibilities listed below.
Accounting Responsibilities – Prepares and maintains Agency’s general ledger, assuring all entries are accurate and documented. Assists with adjusting journal entries and assists CFO in closing the books each month and year. Processes and distributes payroll in coordination with Human Resources. Answers employee questions about payroll and leaves. Manages wage withholdings and garnishments. Coordinates accounts payable and is responsible for all purchasing entries made in the accounting system. Prepares cash disbursements for payments of Agency’s liabilities, including outlying programs’ use of debit and credit cards for purchases. Serves as primary contact for vendors. Works with Agency’s auditors during annual audit. Supports preparation of annual budget. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports for various regulatory bodies.
Financial Analysis Responsibilities – Manages Agency’s accounts receivables and revenues, including preparation of more than three dozen invoices each month with varying degrees of complexity and tracking payments received and outstanding balances. Prepares regular and ad hoc financial reports for partners and governmental agencies. Performs ad hoc financial analyses for Agency staff as requested. Manages the Agency’s budgets from creation to implementation to tracking. Manages and maintains fixed assets and depreciation schedules. Supports Development team by assessing funding gaps and providing budgets and narratives for funding proposals. Works with Agency’s auditors during annual audit.
Qualifications – Must be fully knowledgeable in the maintenance of comprehensive booking systems and able to accurately maintain accounts, ledgers and supporting documents to ensure the provision of current fiscal information for analysis at any time. A minimum of four years of bookkeeping experience covering all aspects of bookkeeping systems is required. Experience in non-profit accounting and financial analysis is preferred. Four-year college degree preferred. Associates degree required at a minimum. Specific full-charge bookkeeping experience/ accounting course work preferred. Advanced Excel skills required as is experience with bookkeeping software such as Sage 50 and other business software applications (Word, PowerPoint, ADP, etc.).
Salary $80,452 - $97,790 a year depending on experience. Additional 5% if Bilingual (E/S). Generous benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage. AA/EOE.
