Community Health System is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Moreno Valley, CA

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for general maintenance and repair of CHSI buildings, facilities and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform basic carpentry maintenance and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, office furniture, shelves and ceiling tiles.
  2. Repair and treat structures such as floors, sinks, windows and walls to include patch and paint as required to single and or multi surface areas.
  3. Maintain all walls, windows and walkways keeping them clean and presentable. Wash them, as needed.
  4. Perform minor troubleshooting, repairs, replacement and adjustments of locks on doors, door hinges, cabinets, desks, and closets.
  5. Maintain irrigation controls to properly water all plants.
  6. Perform basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, lighting fixtures and bulb replacement and additional appliances.
  7. Identify and perform basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; and replaces washers and other minor parts.
  8. Identifying projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person (i.e., detecting faulty operations, defective material) and report any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  9. Re configures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.
  10. Conduct monthly facility audits in conjunction with planned preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and failures (i.e., replacing toilet and/or faucet rings, re-caulking areas as necessary, etc.).
  11. Routine maintenance of air duct and air filtration systems.
  12. Safely use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
  13. Wear or use appropriate safety equipment as required. Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure and injury free environment.
  14. Observes safety rules, regulations, procedures, and precautions while involved in work tasks.
  15. Assist in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites.
  16. Pick up and deliver supplies and materials to sites.
  17. Restock various buildings with janitorial supplies, as needed.
  18. Maintain a CHSI toolbox with hand and power tools.
  19. Set up and tear down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms and function rooms or events.
  20. Work with Inventory Manager to chaperone vendors who are performing work on CHSI sites.
  21. Must have the flexibility to work varied shifts as necessary and stay late, if needed and respond to calls for emergency service at various facilities.
  22. Need to maintain full communication with managers/ supervisors at all CHSI sites. Share information relevant to on-going tasks of the Facilities Department.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have clean driving record, reliable vehicle, current CA driver license and automobile insurance.
  • Essential travel between health center locations on a regularly bases.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Possesses strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Basic working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical equipment is essential
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Previous experience working as a maintenance worker or handyman preferred.
  • Basic electrical maintenance experience.
  • Basic plumbing experience.
  • Basic carpentry experience.
