Community Covenant Church Preschool and PDO is Hiring a Pre-K Assistant Teacher Near Lenexa, KS

The Community Covenant Church Preschool and PDO Pre-K Assistant Teacher provides quality support, supervision and leadership to teacher's, children, and the classroom, while creating a nurturing and Christian atmosphere.

Position: 4 year old Pre-K Teacher is a part-time position that operates from August-May. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:15-2:30pm

Supervision Received: You will report to the Program Director and in collaboration with other staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Pre-K Teacher will:

  • Assist and guide children in activities and lessons
  • Meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of the children
  • Assist the Lead Teacher by ensuring that room preparation of equipment and activities are available daily
  • Follow a daily classroom schedule, but is flexible when it changes
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities are cleaned, well maintained and safe at all times
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Build children's self-esteem, while always making sure they feel comfortable and safe
  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance
  • Monitor and recognize classroom behaviors. Adapt accordingly
  • Clearly and effectively communicate
  • Provide information and tools to keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.
  • Participate in Preschool Community activities
  • Attend monthly Staff Meetings
  • Attend Required Training
  • Agree to be Background Checked and Fingerprinted

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Pre-K Teacher must have:

  • Experience in Early Childhood
  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • A positive attitude, high level of integrity, honesty, work ethic, and faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  • A caring, loving and nurturing personality
  • Strong verbal and listening skills
  • A strong ability to effectively handle issues amongst children in the classroom
  • The ability to multitask
  • A strong sense of time management
  • Be compassionate and understanding
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and other staff

Essential Physical Requirements

The Pre-K Teacher must have:

  • Lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Stand on your feet for long periods of time
  • Be able to get up and down from the floor multiple times
  • Bend and stoop to assist children
  • Use a pleasant and clearly understandable speaking voice

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
